2. Discuss your business needs and goals.

Your marketing strategy session will usually last an hour. During this time, you’ll get to share what you’re hoping to accomplish in your business over the next 1-3 years. We’ll provide a customized list of marketing recommendations including next steps for implementation. We’ll send you notes after the session.

3. Reserve website development time.

If you determine that your website needs to evolve for your business to grow, and you believe that we’re the right fit to help you, then you can place your order on our website. Within 3 days, we’ll send you an SOW and a contract for your project. After you sign, we’ll begin your project immediately.

4. Take the brand personality quiz.

Answer 10 easy questions about your brand personality to help our copywriters and designers quickly grasp the right style for your project. If you worked with a designer on your logo or branding, ask your designer to send over your “brand guidelines.”) If you don’t have these, we can choose appropriate text, fonts and colors for you.

5. Submit photos for your website.

At this stage, please share your logo (preferably in EPS, AI, or transparent PNG format) along with high-resolution photos of you and your business. Don’t have photos yet? No worries. We can source photos from your social media or stock websites. Plus, if you’re in the Treasure Valley, you’re welcome to schedule a complimentary photoshoot!

6. Share login credentials or shortcodes.

If you would like us to integrate any specific apps, please share the app’s login credentials or shortcode. We can set up limited third-party accounts for you (like Calendly) at no extra cost so long as their setup requires less than 2 hours.

7. Complete 1 or 2 interviews.

We offer 500 words of SEO-friendly, conversion-optimized copywriting per webpage. If you would like us to write the text for your website, we require at least one 1-hour phone interview so that we can learn details about your business and communicate effectively to your audience. If you prefer to handle your own copywriting, please send over the text for each webpage.

8. Submit change requests.

You’ll receive a complete website to review. You can either schedule a complimentary review session to share your notes, or you can email us a single numbered list of all concerns, changes, or tweaks. You can submit your comprehensive list via Google Sheets, Google Docs, Excel, or Word.

9. Submit final change requests.

Within 7 days, you’ll receive a second draft of your website with all of the changes you requested. If you need any further adjustments, you’re welcome to submit a second numbered list of changes. Wix and Weebly websites often suffer from uneven formatting, ununified design, and poor SEO. For us, it’s easier to start fresh and rebuild your website on Squarespace or WordPress.

With either Squarespace or our WordPress / Astra / Elementor technology stack, you’ll get the same drag-and-drop flexibility that you might have enjoyed on Wix or Weebly. 

WordPress is the preferred CMS (content management system) of more than 30% of all websites. (Shopify, Squarespace and Wix each account for less than 1%.)

You can achieve more advanced functionality, unique page layouts, and custom user experiences with WordPress than you can with a software-as-a-service website platform. A thriving community of web developers are constantly publishing new tools and plugins to make WordPress faster and more powerful.

Most of these plugins have tens of thousands or even millions of users. They generally have 5-star reviews and they’re updated frequently to provide maximum security for your website.

With plugins, simpler is better. Too many plugins can slow down your website’s speed. This hurts your user experience and page rankings. We may install other plugins if your website requires additional functionality, but we don’t recommend installing more than you need.

We’ll strategize with you to come up with a custom plan. For now, below is an outline of some common types of webpages that may be useful for your business.

  • Home: Introduce your services, what your business is about, and what your customers have to say about you.
  • About: Tell your audience your story and your vision. Share bios of your team members.
  • Service 1: Describe benefits and features. Show off testimonials and use a clear call-to-action.
  • Service 2: Highlight a second service or product at your company. A unique webpage for each service is best for SEO so that you can specifically target a new keyword on each page.
  • Service 3: Highlight a third service or product at your company.
  • Lead Magnet: An opt-in lead magnet incentivizes your website visitors to share their name and email with you. Your lead magnet includes both a promotional page and the actual content that the user unlocks.
  • Blog: Share information and resources that would be of interest to your customers. This is a great way to build authority with customers and Google.
  • Contact: Give your audience an easy place to schedule a call or email you. Tell journalists and influencers the kind of questions you can answer for them.
  • Email List: Preview what content people will receive if they join your email list. Conclude with an invitation to subscribe.
  • Case Study: Showcase how you helped a client achieve an important goal.

If you have a logo and it isn’t high resolution or against a transparent background, we can convert your existing logo to the format we need at no additional cost.

If you don’t have a logo, we can make a temporary one for your website. Since we are not designing a final logo as part of the project scope of your website, you may need to hire a professional designer to create a final logo that you’re pleased with.

Rather than outsource and add unnecessary overhead cost to your bill, we suggest that you work directly with a designer to develop your final logo. There are two good routes you can go.

  • The Logo Company specializes in logos. Their $249 branding package gives you a variety of logo options, free revisions, plus a business card design.
  • Various designers on Fiverr offer price points from $10 to $1,000. These can be hit-and-miss, but sometimes you can get a great logo design for just $30. Fiverr takes a 30% commission on designers’ earnings, so consider adding a generous tip if a Fiverr designer does a great job for you.

Quality photos will greatly enhance your final website. Here are a few tips for taking great shots:

  • Dress professionally and have a coworker or friend take waist-up photos in portrait mode at your place of work. (Shooting with a mobile phone is fine!)
  • For natural soft lighting, try shooting outside under shade. An overcast day will also create pleasing soft light.
  • Avoid standing directly in front of a wall. Look for opportunities to shoot against an interesting background.
  • Have your friend email you the photos at “Actual Size.” Download your favorite images and upload them to a Google Drive or Dropbox folder to share with us for your website.

After your second round of revisions and final payment, we assign the copyright of all text and original designs created as part of this project to you.

Nexus can host and maintain your website and provide security for a $25 monthly fee or a $250 annual fee. Hosting through Nexus means fast site speed thanks to a global CDN (content delivery network) of servers positioned around the world.

We don’t believe in locking clients into a mandatory hosting plan. After your project is complete, we’ll send you a backup of your website. If you decide to host your site elsewhere, we can request a website transfer to your new host.

You can certainly purchase cheaper website hosting. However, we don’t recommend shared hosting plans (like the $5 or $10 per month plans offered by GoDaddy, HostGator and BlueHost) due to slow server speeds. Many shared servers are sold to too many buyers, resulting in slow site speed.

Your website should load in less than 3 seconds for you to maintain good standing with Google. We believe our hosting solution should meet this requirement.
